The Logistics
Benefits of Tai Chi for Seniors
-
Tai chi focuses on balance and core stability, which are key components in supporting stability and overall movement.
-
Our tai chi sessions emphasise slow, controlled movements designed with older adults in mind. We offer adaptive options, including chair-based practice, so participants can move at their own pace.
-
Tai chi encourages a calm mind-body connection, helping to reduce stress and providing gentle mental stimulation.
-
Shared activities create a wonderful opportunity for residents to socialise before and after class. I love sticking around after class to chat with participants.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, we come to your village! We primarily service Brisbane's south side, the Logan region, and the Redlands, but we gladly travel as far north as Chermside. If your village is located outside these areas, please get in touch to discuss availability.
-
We just need enough flat space for participants to safely extend their arms without touching each other. Because of this, the maximum number of participants depends entirely on the size of your room or space, up to a safe limit of 20 residents per instructor to ensure everyone receives proper care and attention.
-
No equipment is needed. We just require an open, flat indoor or outdoor space. If residents prefer a chair-based practice, the village will need to provide standard, sturdy chairs.
-
No experience is required. Tai chi uses gentle, low-impact movements, and participants are encouraged to move at a pace that feels comfortable for them.
To ensure a safe experience, we encourage residents to check with their doctor before starting any new exercise.
-
Yes. Sessions are inclusive and can be adapted for seated or wheelchair using participants.
-
Each session is 45 minutes and includes a gentle warmup, tai chi practise and cool down. I will also happily stay around for the full hour if anyone would like to ask any questions or simply have a chat!
-
Absolutely. We welcome staff and visiting family members to join in and share the experience with residents.
-
Participants should wear comfortable clothing they can move freely in, along with flat-soled, supportive, closed-toe shoes. We highly recommend bringing a water bottle to sessions to ensure adequate hydration. Residents are also strongly encouraged to bring any personal mobility or walking aids (such as canes or walkers) that they normally use.
